Thankfullness Day #7

What a glorious day we woke up to today, sun shining and although at 9:30 this morning it was 62 degrees it warmed up to a fantastic 74 by this afternoon, not a bad turnaround from the 50 degrees it was this morning before the sun came out to play with us all today. The wind blew and in the neighborhood the leaves are everywhere, and I love fallen leaves and all the different colors. The kids started disappearing like bandits in the night today, guess they wanted to take advantage of the weather while it was nice instead of helping poor ole mom pack. Well I let ‘em! Why not! They’re gonna get tuckered next weekend anyway!

We even had unexpected visitors (well I knew they were coming but forgot!). Tom, Eunice and the kids came to visit, well to see lil ole Abigail, that gal is getting all sorts of attention with that lil broke arm of hers. And that’s ok, I am just thankful that it wasn’t worse that what she got, her injuries could have been much worse. Doctor told her no more monkey bars for a very long time, think I can get that in triplicate? It was good to see them all, the kids had a good time seeing each other, I just want to apologize to my sister for that boy having to be stinky all the way home from the sweaty experience that Zach gave him from cannonball hill in our neighborhood! LOL!

Boxes from the girls Room! Madelynne worked hard, although Abby is taking credit herself, but we all know who packed them. :p

Boxes from the boys room, I think I will need to really check this. 3 boxes, and what is with that lone pillow on top? Andy why didn't the remote make into a box? HRmmmmm. I don't think so! Inspection will hit them tomorrow! LOL!

Tomorrow after church our Sunday School class will be having a pot luck and then fill shoes boxes for Operation Christmas Child Ministry . I can’t wait! Our family has done this before but not with a group from church. It has been a project of sorts here and there with missions and with each Sunday school class gathering the items and a few people putting the boxes together, so I can’t wait to get in there tomorrow and work hard with our whole class to get these boxes done.

Some of the posts this week have sort of veered off of the thankfulness meaning, but I think each post has some form of what I have been thankful for. I just wish I could get the rest of the family to hop out of their shell and participate too; maybe this coming week.

So this week I am thankful that God helps provide for us when we need it, not when we want it.
When we feel like we NEED something, WANT something, or feel like we are unfortunate, all one has to do is think of those who are sick in the hospital; those that don’t have any family to visit them at home, hospitals or nursing homes; those who don’t have enough food on the table to feed their families; don’t have warm clothes to wear to school or work; don’t have a warm place to live; don’t have warm water for showers; don’t have covers to stay warm with at night, or even a bed to sleep on…. Think of them!!

I came across this today when I was searching for a passage on thankfulness, although it is not just about being thankful, this passage describes the inner condition of a follower of Christ and promises us as follower’s blessings in the future.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
- Matthew 5:3-12
