When I first heard of Pinterest I really didn't know what it was ... and after several months I was able to cook low cost meals for the family and with four growing kids, and two of them are teenagers, they tend to each us out of house and home. I was also able to to find some inexpensive decorating ideas for the house. Some turned out ok, but not fantastic and others turned out great.
With life having been chaotic over the past few months, working on these projects have been .... well therapeutic.
This project was linked to the following blog, which was linked to an etsy page. After showing this to David we decided to try this project.
After a very enlightening trip to the lumber yard, I found out that a 1 x 12 is not actually 12 inches wide. So after a very lengthy conversation, these boards are 11 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches squares. Sanded then and then painted them with textured paint. After the paint dried Nathanael and I nailed the shapes of Texas, Arkansas and the country of Joran and I strung each. It took me several months to figure out where to hang them, but I finally hung them near the dining area.
Ok, so why those states and country? I was born in Big Spring,Texas; David was born in Ajloun, Jordan; and we were married in Benton, Arkansas.
I wish the pictures were better ..... but it is what it is .... not bad for one of our first projects.
