It is what it is ….

The past 17 days have been a whirlwind; Graydon was admitted into the hospital on March 26 into CCU (Critical Care Unit) at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Graydon made progress and was put into a room where he has been for nearly 2 weeks.

The reason for being admitted: Congestive Heart Failure. This condition has not been unknown, the family has been very aware of this condition for some time now.

His heart is very weak so that his kidneys have not been functioning to their fullest abilities. The doctor(s) have been up-ing and decreasing his lasix to help get the fluid off of his body. They have also increased and decreased the med Dobutamine to help strengthen his heart.

Yesterday was not a good day for news. The Dobutamine doesn’t appear to be helping his heart. They increased his lasix to help get more fluid off of his body. We were told that they were going to increase the Dobutamine and lasix to help with the heart cath procedure they were going to do today.

So today we are now waiting once again in a holding pattern, we were informed around 9:30 a.m. he couldn’t eat or drink anything until 1 when they would do more lab work. From that lab work they would know if they would be able to continue with the procedure. So we should know something by 3 if he will be having the heart cath done today.

Please continue to keep Betty and Graydon in your thoughts and prayers as well as the rest of us as we move through each day.

It hasn’t all been gloomy and sad ….. Sunday was Easter and we had a darling of a nurse! Tradition each year is to have an Easter egg hunt and Betty and Graydons and also hide plastic carrots. Each carrot has a grandkids name on it and the kids have to ‘find’ their carrot. Once they find the carrot they have to return the carrot to Graydon and in return they receive a golden dollar. This year we were able to have a ‘scaled’ down hunt. The nurse we had that day was a blessing. She hid the eggs and carrots in the waiting area and then the kids had a blast. Sunday was a very blessed day!
